Seekers

Seekers Weekly Schedule

During
the school year, we meet every Sunday evening in the Parish Hall unless otherwise noted on the parish calendar.

5:00-6:30 Junior Seekers for Middle Schoolers
(6-8th grades)
6:30-7:00 Combined Seekers Dinner and Fellowship
(i.e. food and hang out time for both groups combined!)
7:00-9:00 Senior Seekers for Highs Schoolers (9-12th grades)

What happens at Seekers?

Seekers gives 6-12th graders a chance each week to reconnect to their faith through discussing issues relevant and important in their lives in a community where it is safe to say what you think and even where you can confess to not knowing everything you think you’re already supposed to know about life, God, and relationships.  In addition to our normal weekly schedule, we also have a fun night each month when we concentrate pretty much solely on hanging out together “in fellowship” around a fun activity like going to a movie or playing miniature golf.  This year we’ve also been participating in the Hilltop services once per month with other Episcopal Youth in the surrounding area.  Epiphany will host this event in May.

A typical meeting includes:

Check-in: The chance to share about our week or opinions.
Discussion: Time to reflect on and discuss real life issues facing youth in Junior High/Middle School and High School in the context of our faith and how we live out our Christianity beyond the walls and halls of Epiphany.  During Lent (the 40 days before Easter) we even have a four week movie series with discussions each week that draw out the spiritual symbols and themes in normal box office movies.
Play Games: Some of our favorites are Cops and Robbers, Capture the Flag, Ninjas, or just time to chill in good company — there’s always the option to play music.
Prayer: We try to close each meeting with prayer, which comes in many forms — Silence, sharing personal concerns, praying for people who aren’t with us this week, the mission trip, etc.
