At Epiphany, we take our fun seriously! We have many activities every month covering all interests and ages. Newcomers may want to check out the Foyer Groups: they are specifically intended to help you to meet people and learn about our activities. Some meetings occur on at Eastburn Hall (next to the church), some at people's homes, and many at specific locations. All of them are listed in the This Week at Epiphany newsletter and can be accessed through this site and the home page. And remember, for all of our activities, the motto at Epiphany is "All are Welcome."
The Foyer Groups are informal groups of parishioners who get together monthly to enjoy each other’s company. There is no agenda or plan- just casual socializing. The members take turns hosting the group in their homes. If someone’s home is small, the church lounge can be made available to the group. Some groups have enjoyed picnics or meeting at a local restaurant. Generally, the host provides the main course while the other members fill in the rest of the meal such as bread, salad, dessert, appetizer, etc. The groups are put together randomly so that all participants can get to know others in the parish. This is a great way to meet and get to know those you might not have a chance to visit with otherwise. The groups meet for one year and then new groups are arranged. A kickoff potluck is usually held each fall in the parish hall and the groups are announced then. Foyer is a fun way to meet others and enjoy an evening of good talk and terrific meals. Watch This Week for the annual signup.
Epiphany seems to attract amateur atheletes! We have a wide variety of sporting and atheletic events each year, usually organized informally. These include running, bicycling, camping, hiking, climbing, and more.
The Epiphany Book Club is a rather informal group of folks who like to read good books, love to eat home cooked food, and always enjoy talking about both. The club gets together roughly once a month during the year, but tends to take the summer months, and December, off. Each meeting begins with wine, then grace and dinner, followed by a lively discussion and critique about the current book. As the discussion winds down there is a vote to determine the next title. Generally there is a balance of fiction and non fiction selections during the year.
Occasionally there are special events, like a visit to Bay Meadows after reading Sea Biscuit, or a trip to the movies when a previous selection has been made into a picture.
